平衡学习和工作, non-traditional student Erinne Sisk goes above and beyond at 杰克逊的大学
Erinne Sisk isn’t a traditional student. While studying to be a nurse, she works a full-time job and serves as a part-time probability and statistics instructor.
杰克逊的大学 recognized Erinne’s contributions by awarding her the first-ever Supplemental Instructor of the Year.
“我很震惊。. I wasn’t expecting this at all,”她说。. “This wasn’t even an award that existed. It just kind of came up, and the fact that it came up because of me was the most humbling thing ever.”
作为一名辅助教练, she helps with the online courses by holding study sessions and helping students build study habits.
“I realized that a lot of times they can be intimidated going to a professor and asking for help,”她说。. “It’s fun because I can kind of break it down in a way instructors might not as it could be a little bit more technical. I can break it down and show them how I learned and how I studied and remembered things. It’s cool to see them succeed.”
Erinne took Professor Alana Tuckey’s probability and statistics course. 当接近成为 补充教练 she agreed but wanted it to be with Alana. They’ve worked together for almost two years now.
“她是难以置信的. Alana breaks it down in a way that’s easy to learn. She was just an excellent teacher. Even though you’re getting a lot of information, it’s very organized and she is just an excellent teacher,”她说。.
杰克逊的大学 set her up for success. 辅导 was an eye-opening experience.
“Every professor that I’ve had has been communicative, helpful and understanding. 生活发生了. They work with you,” Sisk said.
She recommends 杰克逊的大学 to other prospective students for those reasons and more.
“The campus is beautiful and maintained. 我们有资源. The people that work here are phenomenal. My boss, Kim (McKeown), she’s excellent. All the other student tutors I work with are just really amazing people and very helpful. I can’t think of a reason not to come here,”她说。.
After Erin graduates she ideally would like to work in hospital administration.
